A Walk Down Memory Lane

A Walk Down Memory Lane

Marshall is always excited to travel to new places, sing, and lead people in worship. On the weekend of February 15 & 16, he’ll be doing just that – only this time it has a little different, more nostalgic meaning. He will be headed to Chicago to lead worship at Willow Creek Community Church. Willow Creek is one of the foremost churches in the United States today, but to Marshall it’s a big part of his spiritual journey, and the place he met his wife, Lori. “I asked Lori to marry me on February 14th, 2003. She said yes. The next day, Lori was singing in the weekend services at Willow, and so we went together. It’s etched in my memory, and so cool to think that 11 years later to the day, I’ll be singing at Willow again.” Marshall made his first trip back to Willow Creek since those day in mid-November of this past year, when Bill Gaither asked if he would fill-in his old spot for the Gaither Vocal Band. “I was thrilled to say yes! I love singing with my buddies, and Bill had no idea that I used to work at Willow or what kind of impact it had on my spiritual journey.” Not only was he reacquainted with his old surroundings, but with his former pastor, Bill Hybels. “The teaching at Willow changed my life. It was like a springtime for me – pulling winter back like a blanket. I saw pastor Hybels after the Gaither concert, and we talked for a while. It meant quite a bit to have a short moment with him. Then he invited me back to sing, and I’m so excited to go back. It’s an amazing place.” You can see Marshall at any of the three services at Willow Creek’s South Barrington campus. The service times are Saturday 5:30pm, Sunday 9:00am, and 11:15am. For more information, check out...

Jeremiah Study Bible Release Event @ MSG

After more than 40 years of full-time ministry, and a legacy of teaching the Word of God, Dr David Jeremiah released his long-awaited study Bible in the Theater at Madison Square Garden,  in New York City. Joined by family, friends, and an audience of over 5000 enthused New Yorkers, the Word Of God was celebrated, and the name of Jesus lifted above all others. The evening included several guest artists: Mercy Me, Kari Jobe, The Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers, Gordon Mote, and worship leader Marshall Hall. “What an incredible evening,” says Hall. “I don’t know that I’ve ever been to a Bible party before, but please let me know when the next one is. The hearts of all these artists, the engagement of everyone who came – it’s obvious that folks are hungry for God’s word.” The Jeremiah Study Bible is replete with comprehensive introductions to each of the 66 books of the Bible, more than 8,000 study notes (with embedded cross-references) meticulously compiled by Dr. Jeremiah over the years, and hundreds of articles and sidebars designed to steep the reader in additional information and application. “God’s Word is deeply moving and powerful to me, and as I worked to produce this Bible I kept in mind three goals,” Dr. Jeremiah explained. “First, I wanted to share what the Bible says. Second, I wanted to help people discover what it means. And third, I wanted to help people understand what it means for them, as individuals made in their Creator’s image. That’s the most important thing, because if people walk away from the Bible and they know what it says and they know what it means, but they don’t know how it works in their own life, they will see no change.” Among the supporters on hand during the evening, was a very familiar New Yorker – Donald Trump. Mr. Trump enjoyed the evening with his wife, Melania, and the two made a point to connect with Dr. Jeremiah and his wife, Donna, before the event began The Jeremiah Study Bible is already in its second printing through Worthy Publishers. Raising Princesses

Raising Princesses

I have two girls (beside my wife). They are my little love bugs – my sweeties. At one time or another, even currently, they have dreamed or acted or played being princesses. They are wonderful in the role – naturals. High tea, pinkies in the air, a court full of loyal, cotton-stuffed subjects. I love it. It’s the best. It makes me think of the rest of the picture though. If they are princesses, then what’s my role? Am I the benevolent king? Prince charming? I don’t really know, maybe both, but one thing is certain – they don’t become princesses all by themselves. Someone has to mould these beauties, and I’m terrified that I’m part of the process. So far, they aren’t ruined, but I’ve got some time left:) I pray God will give me a vision for their lives and for my role as daddy. Gotta go – tea...
